New 2016 Lincoln MKZ at Fort Dodge Ford Toyota for Fort Dodge, IA

The 2016 Lincoln MKZ may be a glimpse into a future direction of all of the brand's products, representing the automaker in the midsize sedan class. Buyers will find the Lincoln MKZ to have a  stunning design and a cabin packed with innovative, purposeful technologies. The '16  MKZ comes in two trim levels: base and Black Label.

Under the MKZ's Hood

The Lincoln MKZ offers three engine choices. It has a 2.0 liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine at the base level, coupled to a six-speed automatic with paddle shift controls, with either front or all wheel drive. It produces 240 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque, leading to a 0-60 mph time of about 7 seconds; so even this base MKZ is a performer.  Front-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive is optional. An optional engine choice is a 3.7-liter V6 engine that puts out 300 hp and 277 lb-ft of torque. It is also mated to a six-speed automatic. Front-drive MKZ models get an EPA-estimated 22 mpg combined (18/27), while all-wheel-drive models achieve 21 mpg combined (18/26). The third available powertrain is a hybrid.

Design of Lincoln MKZ

The Lincoln MKZ is stylish; it has a winged grille and the trim are every driver's idea of understated elegance, and the push buttons are a clever detail. Packed with standard equipment, you will find Intelligent Access with Push-Button Start, SYNC® with MyLincoln Touch™ driver connect technology, electric power assisted steering (EPAS) and active noise control (ANC).  Available or optional features include a 3G embedded modem with connectivity to the MyLincoln Mobile app, a fully retractable panoramic roof, inflatable rear seat belts, and multi-contour front seats with Active Motion.

When did Lincoln start making hybrids?

The 2011 model year in the United States.

How can I tell if my MKZ is AWD?

Check underneath to see if it has two seperate drive shafts. One for the front wheels and one for the back wheels. If it is 2-wheel drive, it will have one long shaft. Also, the trunk lid under MKZ should be a AWD emblem.

Can I put a protection screen over the navigation screen to stop the smudges and fingerprints?

You can put one on there but it may not be as sensitive when you touch it.

Conclusions

Standard equipment includes all the usual stability control and airbags, as well as Bluetooth connectivity, a rear-view camera system, and parking sensors. The 2016 Lincoln MKZ is the only sedan in its class to offer inflatable outboard rear safety belts. This new technology helps to spread impact forces across more than five times the area of conventional safety belts. This, in turn, reduces pressure on the chest while helping to control head and neck motion. If you would like more information on the 2016 Lincoln MKZ, give us a call today!
