2023 Ford Maverick Specs

What defines a truck? There are many answers to this timeless question. One answer we can take off the list is size, thanks to the Ford Maverick.

2023 Ford Maverick Release Date

Since its release in 2021, the Maverick has shaken up the lineup of one of the most reputable truck manufacturers, Ford. The Ranger, once considered a small truck, is now outclassed by the more compact and fuel efficient Maverick. Surprisingly, despite its small size, it still makes room for an accommodating five-seat cab and a practical bed. We can’t fathom how they fit so much in a truck this size.  Below we’ll look at some of the awesome features about the 2023 Ford Maverick, which is expected to be released December of this year.

Powertrain and Fuel Economy

There are two options when it comes to powertrains for the 2023 Ford Maverick. We think both are great, and it really comes down to your preference. Standard is the fuel efficient 2.5-liter four cylinder motor, combined with an electric motor that makes a decent 191 horsepower. This powertrain comes with a continuously variable automatic transmission, meaning that the car doesn’t shift gears as it speeds up or slows down, it goes with the flow. This relatively new technology is cool and fun to drive with.

The other powertrain offered in the 2023 Ford Maverick is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four cylinder engine that makes 250 horsepower. This engine may not be as fuel efficient, but it’s for the purists who prefer a gas only engine and a bit more horsepower. It should be noted that while these have seemingly significantly less horsepower than what you would usually expect from a truck, the truck is much lighter, and you can expect the similar high quality experience you get with all Ford trucks in the Maverick.

Towing capacity

Being a small truck, the Maverick’s suspension is specially designed to be tighter and prepared for towing impressively sized loads. There’s a significant difference between powertrains and towing capacity, so this could be a deciding factor for you. The standard hybrid Maverick can tow up to 2000 pounds, while the turbocharged four-cylinder Maverick can tow up to 4000 pounds. Either way, this small truck is lively and capable.

Trims

Getting the right trim for you is incredibly important. It makes sure that you’re paying for features that you need and want, while skipping the extra costs that aren’t suited for you. Ford has a reputation for allowing the driver as much customizability as possible in adding and subtracting features from the car or truck. The 2023 Maverick is no exception.

There are three trims available the XL, XLT, and Lariat. At the XLT level, more features are added to the truck, like 17 inch aluminum wheels. The most exciting part of the 2023 is the new Tremor off-road package. This exciting off-road package is available on the XLT and Lariat trims of the Maverick. It includes a better suspension, better all-wheel drive and Ford’s Trail Control system as well. We don’t know about you, but we can’t wait to vanquish the trails in this peppy small truck with the 2023 Tremor off-road Maverick.
