Lincoln’s EV SUV: What we know

As gas prices continue to rise, it’s only natural that electric vehicles are becoming more popular. It feels like just a few years ago that electric vehicles were laughably practical at best- and only a few companies made electric vehicles that worked well for commutes and beyond. How times have changed. Today, it feels like every car brand is making their foray into electric vehicles. While Ford has been toying with their electric vehicle lineup for a while now, their Luxury counterpart, Lincoln is only now making the foray into electric vehicles. That’s what you want from a luxury car brand- taking the time to perfect the electric vehicle so it’s tuned to the luxury car driver’s expectations. So far, we’ve herd and seen nothing but awesome things about the newest addition to the Lincoln lineup, the Lincoln Aviator EV.

While Ford has been producing what some have dubbed the “electric Mustang truck” (the Mustang Mach-E) for a couple of years, it just doesn’t do it for some. We don’t all need a sports-car for our everyday lives. If you’re looking for a luxury suspension and ride, tuned for comfort and performance, the Lincoln Aviator EV is the superior choice. This is the perfect transition into electric vehicles as well if you’ve been driving Lincoln for a long time. There’s no better way to get that $7500 electric vehicle tax credit than with an SUV you’re already comfortable driving. Let’s dive into what we know so far about the Lincoln Avaitor EV.

We know that dual motors have become a must on electric vehicles on this caliber, so that’s to be expected on the first Lincoln EV, the Aviator. Though the different platform will provide more comfort and class than the Mustang Mach-E, it will likely use the same battery packs. That means equal performance, but possibly tuned in a more refined fashion. Who wants to scare their kids or significant other with sports car EV tuned acceleration?!

The design of the Lincoln Aviator EV are sure to be top of the line, and beyond the industry stanadard. This means LED lighting along the sleek body indicative of an electric car- so much so that it blows the design of current electric vehicle industry leaders out of the water. If Lincoln is making an EV, the design principles carry over. Just like current Lincolns, it’s sure to be a head turner on the road.

Lincoln Aviator EVs are also expected to have top-of-the-line infotainment systems. This is to be complemented by the high tech driver assistance technologies currently available- getting drivers as close to an autonomous car as current technology allows.

It’s difficult to wait for more detailed specs of the Lincoln Aviator EV SUV to be released. As the first of many planned EVs in the Lincoln lineup, it will set the bar for what we can expect from the others too. The times are a changing: Lincoln has even promised a full EV lineup by 2030. We hope they’ll retain some gas models for purists then too. Either way, we can expect many more options for electric vehicle enthusiasts who like style, performance, and a smooth ride in their SUV in the near future. Check back for more concrete details on the Lincoln Aviator EV when they’re available!
