Toyota's Plans for 30 EVs by 2030

Toyota's Lineup of EV Concept Vehicles

The 2020s are set to be the decade of electrification in the automotive industry. 6 out of 7 car advertisements during the 2022 Superbowl were for electric vehicles, after all! Toyota has long been a leader in this space with the pioneering Prius vehicle. For a long time Toyota was focused on hybrid vehicles, as opposed to all-electric ones. As the technology has developed, however, so have Toyota's plans: the company now aims to offer 30 different electric vehicles (EVs) around the globe by 2030.

What do we know about Toyota's plans so far?

In December 2021 Toyota showed off a number of its EV concepts. These range from an all-electric SUV to an all-electric sports car! The vehicle that will come to the U.S. market first is the 2023 Toyota bZ4X, a crossover SUV that is all-electric. The bZX4 will be available with one or two motors, corresponding to front-wheel and all-wheel drive options. The vehicle will top out at about 250 miles to a single charge. This is just the first model in the bZ lineup - meaning Beyond Zero.

Toyota also announced an all-electric version of the well-regarded Toyota Tacoma, making it yet another automaker to unveil an all-electric pickup. This makes sense in the American market: Pocahontas residents love the utility and style offered by trucks. We don't have too many details about this vehicle yet, but we'll update you as soon as we learn more!

The company also unveiled the Toyota Sports EV, a concept vehicle that looks downright dashing. Combining striking lines with a futuristic aesthetic, this car promises to turn heads everywhere it goes. Some Coalville drivers will be concerned that an all-electric sports car won't perform as well as traditional ones, but this is unlikely to be the case. Electric vehicles don't need the same time to build up speed as traditional ones: they can simply leap into high gear when engaging the motor. Electric sports cars, like the Toyota Sports EV concept vehicle, are liable to break records, not fall short of them.

Toyota's Long-Term Plans

The company also unveiled a pair of all-electric van concepts in December, dubbed the Micro Box and Mid Box. These, along with the Toyota Cruiser EV, which is another EV SUV concept, lead us to believe that Toyota is well on its way to offering 30 EVs around the world by 2030, across all vehicle categories.

Other evidence supports this idea. The company has unveiled plans to build a battery plant in the United States that Toyota plans to have running by 2025. All of this comes on top of the wide variety of hybrid vehicles offered by Toyota, ranging from a new hybrid Corolla to the Tundra i-FORCE MAX, a powerful pickup that combines a 3.5L twin-turbo engine with an electric motor for a whopping 437 horsepower.

Conclusion: Toyota's Electric Future

There is a lot for Webster City drivers to be excited about when it comes to Toyota's new EV lineup! They'll offer a vehicle for everyone between the sedans, SUVs, truck, vans, and sports car that they have already unveiled. The company has also promised to make affordability a key component of its EV strategy, meaning that these revolutionary vehicles won't break the bank. As we learn more about Toyota's upcoming electric vehicles you can be sure that we will update you!
